Cliffside, June 30 — Mrs. J. Y. Padgett visited, her mother, Mrs. Bright, of Gaffney, over the week-end.
Mrs. Everett Fite and daughter, Edna, of Charlotte, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. A. K. [?] Roberson for a few days.
The friends in Cliffside of Mr. Broadus Moore deeply sympathize with him in the loss of his father, W. B. Moore whose burial took place in Forest City last Saturday afternoon.
A wedding of marked simplicity was consummated Sunday morning at 9 o’clock in the Methodist parsonage when Miss Ruth Gaston Hawkins became the bride of Mr. Jess McCurry. Rev. H. E. Stimson in his usual gracious manner performed the ceremony. Mrs. McCurry has charge of the beauty parlor in Cliffside. Mr. McCurry holds a position with the Cliffside Mills and has charge of Charlotte Observer paper here in town. They have the best wishes for success and happiness from scores of friends.
Betty Jo Burgess, of Gastonia, is visiting Miss Bertha McCraw for a few days.
Miss Marjorie Baynard of Forest City is visiting Miss Margaret Crowe.
An ice cream party was given in honor of Mrs. Joe McKinney and Mrs. Bert Ferree’s birthday anniversary Saturday night at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ferree. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ferree, Mrs. Joe McKinney,
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Matheny and small son Gene, Mr. and Mrs. Paul McKinney, Mr. and Mrs. Isebel [Ishel] Parris, Misses Emmie Sue McDaniel, Lois Womack, Pearl Ferree, Messrs Clarence Glenn, Carl McKinney and Max Ferree.
Miss Rachel Fortune is ill at this writing.
Mrs. Gulmer Yelton and daughter Augustine from Forest City visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Waters during the weekend.
The many friends of Mrs. J. D. Brown who is in Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, will be interested to know that she is getting along nicely and is expected home in about ten days.
Mrs. G. C. Shuford is spending several days in Asheville this week.
Mrs. W. H, Haynes and Mrs. D. C. Colvin have returned home from a week’s visit to Mr. and Mrs. Reid Brawley in Charlotte.
The friends of Rose Hill Dobbins will be glad to know that she returned home from the Rutherford Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Ellis were the Sunday dinner guests Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Hamrick of Lattimore.
Miss Eula Mae Gosey spent the week-end with Miss Jaunita [Juanita] Bates of Shelby.
Miss Mabel Harrill has been visiting in Mooresboro.
