Authors Mike Rhyne and Anita Price Davis are beginning a new book: Rutherford County in the Vietnam War. They would like to focus on those service personnel who are or have been associated with Rutherford County; who served sometime between 1960 and 1980; and who submit their photos and information for inclusion.
If you, your friends, or family members have a connection with Rutherford County and served in those years, Mike and Anita would love to include each of you in the book.
Bring photographs, the DD-214/discharge papers (if available) and information of the person who served to the Ellenboro Woman's Club House on Saturday, April 21, anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Family and friends may bring information and photographs for deceased service personnel. If you would like to share any other experiences, information, and/or memorabilia, they will welcome these also.
Mike and Anita will copy your photographs and other material on site and return them to you immediately.
Directions to the Ellenboro Club House: If you are going east on Highway 74 Business from Forest City to Ellenboro, turn left at the first traffic light in Ellenboro. The Club House is the white building immediately on the left.
Rutherford County did more than its part during the Vietnam era.
Let's memorialize Rutherford County's heritage and the stories of those who served for future generations. Now is your opportunity to help preserve the work of our county during this time period.
