Rock Springs Campground

We read in Joe Beason's journal that, back in the 1880's and 90's, he attended camp meetings at the Rock Springs Campground. Where was this place? we wondered. Now we've found out, and it was not far from the site on which Cliffside would be built.

High Shoal Church

baptismOrganized in 1835, it is among the oldest churches in Rutherford County that still exists. Many Cliffside families have belonged over the years, including Marilyn Moore Kerr's grandparents, the Fred Robinsons. And Marilyn's grandmother, Era, was organist at the church for several years. Out of her devotion to the old church and its legacy, Marilyn has condensed The History of High Shoal Church, a book by two former High Shoal ministers, and compiled several photos for the story.
